Kisu Min (Esperanto: Kiss Me) is a band founded in Łódź, Poland, at the end of 2016. They play a form of alternative rock of the new pre-war era with the line-up of Basia Ciupińska (vocals, guitar, synths), Ola Sobańska (lead guitar, backing vocals), Agata Pyziak (drums, percussion), and Michał Szafarz (bass guitar, backing vocals). In 2023, the band signed with the Antena Krzyku label and released the album City of the Revolution, which earned a favourable reception both in Poland and abroad. Kisu Min went on tour in the meantime, writing songs for the new album Rudolf Steiner House, which will be published on September 29, still through Antena Krzyku.
With their new album inching closer and gaining more attention, the band solidifies what has been an exciting rollout with the latest single, “Uncanny Valley.” The moving indie rock anthem features an attention to detail that never comes off as such, as Kisu Min successfully packs a simplistic tune with a rainbow of nuances. As the guitar melodies hit the listener with waves of blissful tones, and the drum patterns fall out of the speakers like a heavy rainfall, a sturdy yet ethereal vocal performance wafts in as if entering on a rolling cloud. With splashes of electronics, “Uncanny Valley” beautifully details the individuality Kisu Min brings to their music. If the rest of their upcoming LP is anything close to their new single, the band is in for a breakthrough moment.
“The fastest and most guitar-driven track on the album. Driven by Ola’s killer riff and Agata’s extremely fast hi-hats,” explains the band. “We made a music video for this song inspired by John Carpenter’s film ‘They Live.’ The image is still very relevant and fits perfectly to the lyrics. AI is increasingly entering our lives, and humans are becoming more and more primitive, regressive, and closed-minded. Wake up, before it’s too late!”
