Then why not unwind with a little Unwound this week —a fitting band to help you transition from the hype and decadence of October into the more autumnal, introspective nature of November? And although Unwound steadily evolved into more cerebral and atmospheric territory throughout their active years in the 90s (culminating in their brilliant final album Leaves Turn Inside You in 2001), when they first started out, their sound was decidedly more visceral. Case in point: check out this delightfully abrasive performance of “Valentine Card” live from 1993, which finds Justin Trosper on all fours screaming into the camera with the rest of the band flexing their noise-rock muscles in full force behind him.
