Rounding out our salute to Neil Young this week on this his 80th birthday, for today’s Weirdo Wednesday, we’re taking a look at the whacked-out original version of “Hey Hey, My My” performed in studio with Devo back in 1978. Recorded during the making of the delightfully bizarre cult film Human Highway (which was eventually released in 1982), it was later played by Crazy Horse and released on the classic Rust Never Sleeps album in 1979, and the rest, as they say, was history. But this beautifully batshit original performance of the song with Devo is 100% certified Weirdo Wednesday hall-of-fame material, and a fittingly fun choice to celebrate Neil on his 80th birthday today. Happy birthday Neil! Dig it:
