The Winters are a band of brothers from the rolling hills of Tennessee. Grant, Henry, and Blair Winters set out to make music they truly connected with, outside of the bounds of what surrounded them. With a blend of psychedelic groove, R&B, and soul, the brothers have found the sound that truly resonates with them.

On their latest single, “She,” The Winters create an immersive, moving atmosphere that softens the blow of complex emotions. The soulful tune brings to life the intricate fusion work that is set to define this band, as they slide into a singular sound on only their second single. The smooth jazz flows through the wistful vocals with an elegance that is more reminiscent of a watercolor painting than anything happening in the soul revival or contemporary jazz scene. There is a delicate poetry to this performance that creates a welcoming atmosphere, as sleek melodies combine with a lush vocal performance. Karalyne Winegarner’s nimble vocals dance with an unassuming yet dynamic arrangement, their movements evoking the warmth of familiarity, while the lyrics tell a different story. “She” centers on the joy and confusion of falling in love, and on the acceptance and fear that come with a budding relationship. The Winters beautifully paint this scene through soulful jazz that touches the heart and helps it through whatever may be making it skip a beat, all while successfully introducing this young band as fearless additions to the jazz scene.

“Brother Henry wrote the majority of this song years ago and brought it to Grant and me. We thought it had such an easy-going, nostalgic vibe. We brought it into the studio and really shaped it into something special,” explains Blair. “I wrote the lyrics for this song about my girlfriend and the difficulty expressing emotions that come with being overwhelmed by falling in love with someone’s beauty and soul, like trying to paint a picture of something so beautiful, but unseen. We were lucky enough to get the incredibly talented Karalyne Winegarner of the band Flight Attendant. This song, along with our first single ‘Cab’, features a saxophone performance by our friend, Bruce Ervin.”
