Tuesday’s Gone: Booker T. & The M.G.’s Get Greasy Witg “Melting Pot”

Continuing our tribute to the late great Steve Cropper, for today’s Tuesday’s Gone, we’ve dug up this sizzling footage of Booker T. & The M.G.’s performing “Melting Pot” for a (pretty gorgeous) crowd at a party from 1971.  For folks that are primarily only familiar with the band’s classic 60s output, “Melting Pot” (both the album and the title-track) comes highly recommended, particularly for Cropper fans, as his melodic guitar-work is a bit more prominent, which helped give the album a generally looser (not to mention funkier) feel. It’s pure ear-candy, and coupled with all the eye-candy on display in this footage, this video is simply too good to pass up. Dig it:
