Golden Age Thursday: 7 Seconds Pave The Way For Their Longevity During Hectic 1985 Performance

Reno, Nevada, might not be the first city that comes to mind when skimming through the punk rock history books, but to ignore its contributions to the scene’s heyday would be a grave injustice to acts like 7 Seconds. Two sets of brothers formed the Reno-bred four-piece, the Marvelli boys, known professionally as Kevin Seconds and Steve Youth, and the Borghino brothers, known as Tom Munist and Dim Menace. While the lineup has seen several changes, except for Youth and Seconds, 7 Seconds is a rare case from the hardcore Golden Age; they’re still going.

After announcing several breakups, the band reunited for a full tour alongside Circle Jerks and Negative Approach in 2021, and even released a live album in 2022. Looking through what this band has been up to recently has us reminiscing, which brings us to this Golden Age Thursday. This week, we have raw footage from 1985, one year after 7 Seconds released their iconic debut, The Crew. The intimate venue is flipped on its head as four hardcore veterans pave the way for their fruitful future and the bands they continue to inspire. You can watch the chaotic performance below.
