Tuesday’s Gone: Watch Ministry Evolve From Synth To Industrial On “Over The Shoulder”

Continuing our salute to industrial icons Ministry this week, for today’s Tuesday’s Gone, we’re throwing it back to the band’s often forgotten pre-metal days with this rad video for “Over the Shoulder” from 1986. Released as the lead single from their somewhat unheralded Twitch album, this propulsive beat-heavy track may not sport the decidedly harsh flavor the band would become known for later in the decade, but it nonetheless hits hard and has a healthy amount of the type of brooding intensity that would come to define their sound in subsequent years. This track (along with Twitch overall) effectively serves as the compelling bridge between Ministry’s purely new-wave synth-pop origins and the menacing industrial legends that would ultimately become.
