Blake Christiana, founding member of Yarn, has spent two decades chasing the perfect song—crafting a catalog that spans country shuffles, folk ballads, and rock-tinged roots music. Since forming Yarn in 2007, Christiana has steered the band from a scrappy New York City bar residency to sharing stages with Dwight Yoakam, Marty Stuart, Alison Krauss, and Leftover Salmon. Drummer Robert Bonhomme and bassist Rick Bugel have remained Yarn’s core alongside Christiana as the group has evolved through more than 10 albums and 17 years on the road.

Their new album, Saturday Night Sermon, is out April 24th via 333 Entertainment (PRE-ORDER). The album finds Yarn entering a new chapter, blending their ever-evolving sound and layered textures with the narrative lyrics that have resonated with listeners. Many of the songs lean into classic country, and the dynamic arrangements bring depth and warmth, with horns and gospel choirs. The album opens with its title track, a soaring, guitar-and choir-filled introduction that sets a positive, uplifting tone for the journey ahead. From the singalong encouragement of “Let the Universe” to the heartfelt ballad “Where We Land,” the collection navigates gratitude, love, and the human condition, culminating in the reflective, comforting “A Welcome New Home.” Rock-tinged tracks like “Longshot,” “Might As Well Be King” and “Never Enough” add edge and contrast.

Today, Glide is premiering the video for the standout track “Good Things.” It’s appropriate that most of the video was filmed in a barroom as the music blends bluesy boozy rock and roll swagger with outlaw country and Memphis soul. This makes for a tune that chugs along with driving force, propelled forward with a thick groove, bright horns and harmonies, and hopeful lyrics. We get some damn fine guitar soloing riding over it all, complemented by bouncing organ and an impressive beat. The end result is the kind of fun rock and roll tune that should be cranked up over a few beers and not a care in the world.

“‘Good Things’ is all about gratitude. Ray Wylie Hubbard always says, “When your gratitude exceeds your expectations, that is a good day.” With that in mind I threw away all my negative thoughts and self pity and I wrote this song because the truth of it is, our life is only as good as our reaction to it. And Yarn is pretty damn blessed with a whole lot of Good Things.’” —Blake Christiana
