LISTEN: Jon Danforth Escapes Into Folksy Solace On Gentle “Hot Springs Blues”

Jon Danforth is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Ferndale, Arkansas, and currently living in Dallas, Texas. His songs blend folk influences with indie rock elements to create an acoustic-driven, melodic take on Americana music. He has released four EPs and two full-length albums since launching as a solo act in 2017, and is now preparing to release his third full-length studio album, Natural State, in 2026.

“Hot Springs Blues” is our latest preview from Danforth’s anticipated new LP. There is a rawness to its gentle nature, a heartbreak for every moment of sonic bliss, all creating an atmosphere that transports the listener right into Danforth’s shoes. This is an immersive listen that is only achievable when an artist is vulnerable, and a listener’s mind is open. “Hot Springs Blues” layers its complexity in a digestible, stunning fashion, mixing honest emotions with jangly melodies and lighthearted tones. Sonically, we find Danforth returning to a familiar space in search of peace of mind, but the realization that he’s running away from himself proves to have quicker feet. “Hot Springs Blues” is a nimble Americana tune carrying the weight of ending love, and painting a vivid portrait of escapism, all while gearing fans up for Natural State, an album that is shaping up to be something special for Danforth.

“Hot Springs has always held a special place in my heart. I love the lakes, the hills, the food, the downtown shops, the history, and the mystique of the city,” explains Danforth. “‘Hot Springs Blues’ is an ode to nursing breakup wounds in one of my favorite places in Arkansas.”
