As 2026 starts to heat up sonically, there’s no shortage of album rollouts and fresh announcements, replete with music videos for brand new singles by a plethora of artists, including Jill Scott, Yellow Days, Of The Trees, Gorillaz, and By Storm. While surfing the Tube today, one will stumble across a variety of strange gems, ranging from all the aforementioned to a wild cover of Chappell Roan by none other than GWAR.
GWAR cover “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan
Season 10 of The A.V. Club’s “A.V. Undercover” series continues with GWAR following up on their 2024 cover of The Barbie Soundtrack‘s “I’m Just Ken”. This time, the heavy metal band brings its signature style and technical ability to a cover of Chappell Roan’s smash mega-hit “Pink Pony Club”. Blothar aggressively channels the queer anthem in his usual freakish yet perfectly fitting manner.
Gorillaz – “The Hardest Thing/Orange County” ft Tony Allen, Bizarrap, Kara Jackson, Anoushka Shankar
Gorillaz continue the rollout of their collaborator-heavy ninth studio album, The Mountain, by providing fans with two singles and a double feature music video. “The Hardest Thing” sees Gorillaz partner up with the late great legendary drummer and previous contributor Tony Allen, while “Orange Country” is marked by the joining of forces with Bizarrap, Kara Jackson and Anoushka Shankar.
By Storm – “And I Dance”
In the time since Injury Reserve member Groggs tragically passed in 2020, band mates RiTchie (fka Ritchie with a T) and Parker Corey have continued Groggs’ legacy under the new moniker By Storm. After unveiling a handful of singles over the past three years, they recently announced the January 30 release date for their debut album My Ghosts Go Ghost, in addition to dropping off two singles, the most recent of which (“And I Dance”) came to fans with an accompanying music video.
