Rounding out our salute to the late great Ian Dury this week, for today’s Weirdo Wednesday, we’ve dug up this peculiarly amusing video of the tongue-in-cheek “I Want To Be Straight” from 1980. Indeed, after cheeky introductions from each member of The Blockheads, the camera pans to a half-face-painted Dury, where he earnestly declares: “…and I’m Ian, and, guess what!? “I Want to be Straight…””. Granted, it’s a little hard to take him at his word, with the two-face innuendo and all, but of course that’s all part of the playfully eccentric and quirky nature of song and video (not to mention the man himself). This is a fun one. R.I.P. Ian. Dig it:
