Like it or not, Valentine’s week is here, which of course makes it the perfect occasion to spotlight some bands that have been known to indulge in some salaciously sensual subject matter over the years. Take the late great Steve Albini for example, who was nothing if not a hopeless romantic as evidenced by such heartwarming classics as “Dead Billy” and “Bad Penny” from his Big Black days, or the charming “Superpussy” during his brief Rapeman side project, and who could forget the endearing “You Came in Me” from his days fronting Shellac?
Suffice to say, Mr. Albini was quite the modern-day Romeo in his noise-rock heyday, so for today’s Manic Monday, we’re going back to his OG band Big Black with his downright gushy performance from 1987, which of course kicks things off on a rightfully romantic note with “Fists of Love”. Stop it Steve, you’re making us blush! Kidding aside, this performance positively rips…our hearts out! Will stop now…enjoy:
