Half Past Late Records was founded by producer/songwriter Luke Felix-Wood towards the end of 2025. Through this label, he has helped produce and co-write 4 projects across 4 different artists. The most recent release is a mixtape titled Konfessions. Konfessions is a project that’s heavy on the underground/abstract Hip-Hop influences, with tasteful inclusions of R&B and Neo-Soul. This mixtape is also a collaborative project between two artists. The first is US-raised and now UK-based rapper/vocalist KryKey. The second is the in-house beatmaker for Half Past Late Records, Latefortyfive.
The two met at a recording session between Latefortyfive and UK-based artist Kali Renée. Having freestyled over one of his beats on the spot, the two decided to embark on a full body of work.
Konfessions is a strong introduction to a young yet prolific collective of musicians working together to uphold a message of collaboration. “Paper Straws,” an early favorite from the 8-song project, as some of Half Past Late Records’ finest combine forces on an effortlessly infectious moment. The punch-drunk vocals create an intoxicating atmosphere that is instantly captivating, forcing the listener to hang on to every last second of this contemporary neo-soul bliss. Despite their ethereal presence, vocalists Krykey and Maisie Loman convey longing and heartbreak, adding another emotional layer to an already soul-touching performance. Latefortyfive delivers jazzy undertones with his unassuming yet palpable arrangement on “Paper Straws,” allowing every nuance of the harmonies to be emphasized. “Paper Straws” is just one example of the undeniable chemistry Krykey and Lateforrtyfive demonstrated throughout Konfessions, a stunning debut from a promising label. The album is available everywhere now, but you can watch an official visualiser here.
