Musical genres have been blended for generations, leading to the term “fusion” being closely associated with these sonic acrobatics. Fusion music has given birth to some of the most memorable and popular music, like the magic of pop, rock, and jazz coming together, or the marriage of sugary pop and heartfelt soul. In recent years, though, the internet has proven to be a breeding ground for fusion excellence, bridging musical worlds and cross-cultural collaborations that have forced age-old tropes through a refreshing lens. Fusion is an experimental meeting of tradition and lofty visions. Satya’s blend of jazz, ambient folk, and vulnerable soul has opened the doors of her creativity, and the results are something you have to witness for yourself.
After releasing the spacious yet potent “Yellow House” single back in February, the Oakland-raised artist is gearing up to make 2026 the year of Satya with the release of “Project 10,” which Glide is proud to premiere below. The lush, raw, punchy new single is lined with sincere reflectiveness, as Satya sifts through her troubles with depression. By revisiting her past, the artist sheds new light on the memories that haunt her, revealing a silver lining even in the deepest, darkest corners of her life.
“I’ve always struggled with depression. Sometimes in my darker moments, I become hard to reach. When the world feels too overwhelming, I can become really distant in it,” explains Satya when asked about her latest single. “‘Project 10’ is me processing what it means to live inside those lows. I love my life deeply. I love this world deeply, too. ‘Project 10’ honors what it feels like to love it all and simultaneously want to leave it all. The feeling is deeper than the sea, like the dark stretch of night, a wide feeling. Not all bad.”
That idea of escapism flows through the breezy harmonies and punchy production of “Project 10.” Satya’s new single doubles as an outstretched hand to the listener, in hopes that they will grab on and allow her triumph over these complex emotions to act as a guiding light. Reaching out for that hand, though, seems easy as the artist puts on a captivating, intricate performance meant to be carried with you through everyday life. You can hear the world premiere of Satya’s “Project 10” below.
