Rounding out our tribute to the late great Brent Hinds, who passed away in a tragic accident last week, for today’s Weirdo Wednesday, we’re taking a look at his peculiar side band Fiend Without a Face. As the name suggests, the band would typically perform wearing black pantyhose over their faces, a nod to the 1958 B-movie from which they took their name. Such was the case in this performance of the instrumental jam “Black Grass” from 2009, a rad rockabilly-flavored little ditty that shows off Hinds’s diverse influences and guitar playing chops (he actually learned to play the banjo before the electric guitar)! Truly a man of varied, eclectic tastes and immense talent, he will be missed. R.I.P.
