Continuing our Riot Fest preview this week, while the bold-font headliners often garner the most attention at first glance, as many veteran Riot Festers can attest, it’s those pleasantly surprising midday sets that can end up being the most rewarding. And there’s certainly no shortage of those smaller font gems on the docket at this year’s festival, including the recently reunited ska-punk band Dance Hall Crashers.
Indeed, while they never quite achieved the same type of notoriety as some of their East Bay peers back in the 90s (i.e. Green Day, Rancid, etc.), they could nonetheless rock a punky ska dance party with the best of them, as evidenced by this rad and raucous performance of “Lost Again” live from Tokyo circa 1998. Provided they still can harness this type of energy (which they no doubt will), “crashing” their midday Sunday set should be a most excellent choice!
