The Darkness made a stop at Minneapolis’ Varsity Theater on 9/18/25, bringing their distinctive brand of rock ‘n’ roll to a small, sold-out club with a capacity of approximately 900 fans. Lead vocalist Justin Hawkins is the epitome of a performer. Throughout the show, he regaled the audience with his exceptional guitar playing, clever humor, and outrageous stage antics, including standing on his head. The band commenced the evening by performing “Rock ‘n’ Roll Party Cowboy” from their latest album Dreams on Toast. The setlist included ‘The Longest Kiss’ and ‘Walking Through Fire,’ the latter of which featured an interactive element, with Justin instructing the crowd to march back and forth. Finally, Justin requested that the audience put away their phones, allowing the band to perform their most iconic hit, ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love.’ The crowd readily complied, and everyone danced along. Following a brief interlude, the band’s encore concluded with a cover of Queen’s ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ and another track from their latest album, ‘I Hate Myself.’

The Darkness were amazing! I’ve been a fan since the first album, yet inexcusably hadnt seen them before. I’ll never miss a show of theirs again!
