Rounding out our tribute to Down’s classic debut album NOLA for its 30th birthday, today we’re spotlighting their markedly mellower side with the trippily transcendental “Jail”. An eerily haunting shamanistic acoustic piece, it possesses a certain mournful spiritual energy that truly makes it a uniquely consuming listening experience. It’s meant to be heard in a quiet place, of course, perhaps alone on a walk through the woods, or at night in your room (possibly a little baked), or, you know, maybe at the start of your next ayahuasca trip, etc. Kidding aside, you get the idea: “Jail” is an experience, and offers a compelling window into the depth, pain, and soul behind Down’s music.
