Beloved Oakdale, California folk singer Willy Tea Taylor and his merry band of musical cohorts, the Fellership, just concluded a swing up the West Coast, which culminated on Saturday, October 11th with a live album recording at Portland, Oregon’s The Showdown before heading to Trout Lake, Washington the following night for the tour closer.
Guitarist Dylan Nicholson and bassist Eric Patterson, together known as The Turkey Buzzards, were joined by Portland guitarist Kris Stewart to get the evening rolling. These three would form part of the Fellership, along with Portland’s own Lewi Longmire on keyboards and Willy’s son Wiley Taylor on drums.
Before the Fellership took the stage, songwriter duo The Montvales presented their own brand of storytelling-driven folk songs to the attentive audience. Sally Buice (banjo) and Molly Rochelson (guitar) currently reside in Cincinnati, Ohio, but grew up honing their craft in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Willy Tea Taylor and the Fellership played all of the songs from the amazing 2023 album, The Great Western Hangover, along with several other Taylor songs and some choice covers by Bob Dylan and Guy Clark. Taylor heads overseas at the end of November for a month of shows in Europe.
