With the Grateful Dead in town for a show at Austin’s Municipal Auditorium the night before Thanksgiving 1972, Jerry Garcia and Phil Lesh joined up for an epic jam session with Doug Sahm at Austin’s Armadillo World Headquarters concert hall. The jam was so epic that it would include Leon Russell and members of the 13th Floor Elevators, Shiva’s Headband, and Greezy Wheels. The setlist ranged from Bob Dylan and Merle Haggard to Little Richard, and thanks to the Society for the Preservation of Texas Music, we get a mini-doc featuring archival footage and narration by Armadillo owner Eddie Wilson.
