Manic Monday: Deep Purple Wears Loudest Crown With “Burn” Live 1975

As the narrator in the video below declares, “This bands been called the loudest band in the world,” it’s hard to argue that anyone topped Deep Purple at the time. Between Jon Lord’s howling Hammond organ, Ritchie Blackmore’s blistering riffs and leads, and Ian Paice’s thunderous drums, the band pushed volume and intensity to new extremes. Add the Mark III lineup—featuring then-unknown vocalist David Coverdale and bassist/singer Glenn Hughes—and Purple became a full-on fireball of proto-metal power.

For Manic Monday, cue up Deep Purple live in 1975 and watch them unleash pure havoc on Burn. The telepathic interplay between Blackmore and Lord here is one for the history books.
