MacGregor Burns is a Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter. The multifaceted artist began his career in 2022 with the release of “Yippy Tay Yay,” a proper, acoustic introduction to the artist’s natural knack for catchy melodies and memorable songwriting. That stripped-down sound quickly transformed into soul-rock excellence with the release of Burns’s debut album, Paradise Motel, an impressive first release from an artist who found his own sound through a deep trust in his artistry.
Now, Burns looks to continue his creative hot streak on My Corner, his sophomore effort, set to arrive on April 17. Veteran indie producer Luke Temple produced the 13-song outing, and all the singles point towards an exploration of a sound Burns just landed on.
The latest single, the subtly jazzy and overtly soulful “Never Leave Me Alone,” is a vulnerable look into an artist who seemingly thrives in mystique. The newest preview of My Corner finds Burns in a raw place, opening up his soul and allowing these conflicting moments of longing and isolation to pour over the delicate instrumentation. His vocals float out of the speaker, downtrodden but not broken, delivering a loving but urgent warning about the downfalls of too much isolation. It’s not that Burns is blaming someone else for his issues, but rather pleading for someone, anyone, to stay by his side. This moving performance recontextualizes Burns’s approach to songwriting, as he blurs the lines between artistry and personal truths. “Never Leave Me Alone” is our latest look into My Corner, showing us yet again why Burns is quickly becoming an undeniable force.
