LISTEN: Middle Management’s “Like You Said” Is Hauntingly Groovy Post-Punk

Middle Management is a 4-piece post-punk/indie rock band based in Melbourne, Australia, who have been rather quiet over the recent years. After debuting in 2018 with the single “21,” the band went on to release a string of singles that came to a close in 2019. They wouldn’t pick things back up on the release side of things until 2024, with singles like the atmospheric “Exceptional” and the punchy, dream-like “Let’s Go.” 2026 is in full swing, and Middle Management returns with a rejuvenated perspective whittled down to a refreshing new sonic landscape, and “Like You Said” is just the start.

The four-piece’s first new music in two years is a more raw take on their nuanced psych-pop-post-punk fusion. With ripping guitars that leap around the room, vocals that land somewhere between mystifying and earthly, and percussion that kicks up thudding grooves that anchor it all in reality, it would appear Middle Management has found a sound they can call their own. There is a haunting danceability to “Like You Said” that lingers in the room long after this tune ends, an unmistakable mark of a hit. The band, though, doesn’t seem out to grab radio play, but make something no one can take away from them. Middle Management returns hellbent on leaving an impression, and “Like You Said” is just the start. The intrinsic single begins a new chapter for the band, one that you are going to want to be a part of.
