Surfing the Tube is a daily recap of recent must-see YouTube happenings, from music videos and live performances to interviews and everything in between.

Shabaka – A Future Untold

Shabaka shares a live rendition of the first track, “A Future Untold”, from his recent album Of The Earth. The project came out just weeks ago, in early March, and is the very first album released through his own label, Shabaka Records.

Kronos Quartet: Tiny Desk Concert

The four-piece powerhouse Kronos Quartet is welcomed onto the NPR Tiny Desk stage once again, following up on their performance from over a decade ago, albeit with fresh members. Despite being in the midst of rolling out their new Civil Rights-centric album, Glorious, Mahalia opts to play non-album cuts, including equally thought-provoking covers of “Ohio” (by Neil Young) and “Strange Fruit” (popularized by Billie Holiday).

Thee Marloes – “I’d Be Lost” Live at Diamond Mine

Thee Marloes share a live version of their newest single, “I’d Be Lost”, taken from the band’s upcoming album Di Hotel Malibu. The LP serves as the most recent release by the Leon Michels-led label Big Crown Records, adding to their ever-growing list of successful releases.
