n His Own Worlds, the latest album from singer/songwriter Nathan Moore, is a journey inward, a poetic trip to the center of what makes one human. The naked honesty in Moore’s lyrics and voice give the songs an evocative fluency that resonates with anyone who has, even in passing, questioned their true self and what it all means.
It’s hard to believe that Sonic Youth – whose two lead members Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon live in nearby Northampton, MA – haven’t yet made the trip up Interstate 91 to play in Burlington, Vermont. The stars aligned and the seminal indie band made a first-time trip to the Green Mountain State for a visit to Higher Ground.
Back in June, Brothers Past announced that a line-up change was in the works. Long-time drummer Rick Lowenberg had decided to go back to school to study law and environmental issues and a new drummer, Ilya Stemkovsky, was announced as the replacement. Glide Magazine caught up with Stemkovsky to learn more about his new gig.

New York Doll tells a story that touches the soul as the band prepares for their reunion show after 30 years. Arthur “Killer” Kane is as lovable character as there is and one is left wondering what could have been if the boys could have worked out there problems instead of breaking their band. They directly influenced so many bands that include The Clash, The Pretenders, The Sex Pistols and so many others would not be what they were if it were not for the New York Dolls. “Too Much Too Soon,” a great title for their second album and a great description of what happened to those young impressionable New York Dolls when fame was knocking at their lip stick laden, glittery front door.
Tuesdays have been pretty nice in Burlington, Vermont lately with Brett Hughes quietly refining his Honky Tonk jam sessions. For the past few months he has been joined by a rotating cast that will soon be led down to Bonnaroo by Mike Gordon.
