Happy 75th birthday to the leader of Asleep at the Wheel – Ray Benson (born 3/16/51). This ambassador of Western swing and country has built an impressive resume in Texas. With nine Grammy Awards since Asleep at the Wheel’s 1970 inception, the outfit has released over 20 albums and has charted more than 21 singles on the Billboard country charts.
